Biography
I started teaching at
Modesto Junior College in the Fall of 2023, but I was a student here in
2002-2004.
I was born in
Patterson, CA and still live there. I started college right out of high school
and attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. I tried taking 21 units my
freshman semester and failed miserably. After struggling to bring my grade
point average back up to at least 2.5, I came back to Patterson, two years
later. As a first generation college student, I felt like a failure. Someone
suggested taking classes at MJC and I did. While it took me a few semesters to
get back on track, I transferred to Stan State and eventually earned a BA in
History. I then started an MA program in English Literature, but ended before
earning an MA. About twelve years later, I went back to Stan State and earned
an MA in Education. I took most of the MA classes during the pandemic, so I am
comfortable online as both a student and instructor.
I worked at the
Stanislaus County Office of Education from 2011-2023, holding various
positions, including:
- Administrative Assistant
- Project Coordinator
- Application Support Specialist
- Program Coordinator, Educational Technology
- Career and Educational Technology Coach
I am married with two
children, and a dog. I enjoy hiking, playing console video games, reading
fantasy novels, listening to music, and dancing. My most recent bucket list items
include: jumping onto a moving train, creating and delivering five minutes of
stand-up comedy, touring Spain for a month in the summer, and learning how to
twerk.
If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail. You will receive a
response to course e-mails within a 24-hour period. I also enjoy connecting
with people, so please take advantage of my office hours!
