Andrea Carlos Powell, BSN, RN, started her nursing career as a nursing assistant over 40 years ago. Andrea graduated from Modesto Junior College's ADN program and earned her Bachelor's from Ohio University. Over the years, Andrea has worked in home health care, as a nurse in the hospital, and as a Nurse Educator for Sutter Health in the ambulatory setting. Andrea is certified in Chemotherapy and Anticoagulation Therapy and taught BLS for the Healthcare Provider for many years, personally training thousands of healthcare professionals in lifesaving skills. Currently, Andrea is a part-time faculty for the Medical Assisting Program. 


Andrea spoke only English when she started school as a child, but she quickly learned to speak English. She is the first person in her family to graduate high school and attend college. She is fluent in Spanish and English and is proud of her Mexican-American heritage. 

Andrea states, "I love helping others reach their goals and believe that online instruction is a great way for busy working people to accomplish their dreams while working to support their families. As an instructor, I try to prepare my students to succeed in their chosen programs and will do my best to see that they have the necessary tools to excel in their future classes."
