Biography
With 25 years of Electrical/Mechanical and Industry experience, I am
excited to be part of the Modesto Junior College Industrial Electronics
program, where I can help foster a learning environment that helps each student
excel in Electrical Technology. My aim is to cultivate a can-do attitude and
basic work skills, preparing students to enter the workforce.
My career in Industrial Food Manufacturing started at Hilmar Cheese Company in Hilmar, CA, where I started as a Maintenance Mechanic (1997). The career at Hilmar saw me grow to a Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Director of Maintenance Operations, and Electrical & Integration Manager.
My expertise includes working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s,
Industrial Automation Controls Network, Process Controls,
Industrial Automation Applications and Equipment, Motor controls, and VFD’s. I am passionate about teaching,
often taking students who doubt their abilities and demonstrating that by putting in the effort and working together we can achieve great things. I emphasize accountability,
maintaining a balance between being firm, fair, and fun.
I hold an Industrial Electricity AA Degree from Merced Junior College
(June 2015) and a High School Diploma from Chowchilla Union High School (June
1981). I am actively involved in the Modesto College Industrial Electronics
Advisory Committee and the Central Valley Food Manufacturing Maintenance Committee
as well as Stanislaus County Area Joint Manufacturing and Maintenance
Apprenticeship Committee.
The best way to reach me is by email (coatej@yosemite.edu). I will do my best to reply within 24 hours (weekends/holidays allow up to 48 hours).
