Biography
This semester will mark the end of my thirty-second year of teaching English, and I still enjoy working with students immensely. I received my B.S. in Broad Fields English and Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I received my M.A. in English from the University of Hawaii. I have taught in California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.
In addition to teaching, I also write. I am working on a book of short stories about women who live in West Africa, where I used to live, also. I have taken much of the advice that I give to students about pre-writing, character sketches, and research, and I think that it enhances the writing experience and the results. I even learned more about the Krio language from a Peace Corps manual!
I look forward to meeting a new group of students and encouraging their growth as writers, readers, and critical thinkers as they prepare for the rest of their academic careers.
