Biography

My name is Tara Bates and I am a lingua-phile.  I have always been interested in languages and have always thought that people in the diverse communities of the Central Valley should get to know and enjoy each other's languages and cultures.  I studied Spanish at Brigham Young University, Lao at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Persian (Dari) by living overseas.  I earned my Master of Arts degree in TESOL at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. This is my fifth year at Modesto Junior College, and I'm excited to be teaching some classes which are new for me this year.

I want to see all of my students be successful.  If there's something I can do to help you reach your college or career goals, please don't hesitate to ask.

Con confianza, aviseme en que le puedo servir.
