Biography

Hello,
I would like to start off by welcoming you to Modesto Junior College! It is truly my honor to introduce myself as a member of the Child Development Instructor faculty team. This opportunity has been a full-circle experience, considering that MJC is where I began my journey as a child development student. It was here that my passion for the field of child development was ignited! After earning my Associate of Science Degree as well as five child development certificates, I transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders. My most recent academic journey was marked by a Masters of Arts in Child Development from Sacramento State University.
I have worked in the field for over 16 years, including my continued work as an Infant Development Specialist working in early intervention. My heart is invested in empowering children with unique needs and their families, an investment that fuels my excitement for working with college students. My hope is that I can impart both knowledge and passion in the students I have the pleasure of interacting with.
On a personal note, the joy of my life is my incredible 16-year-old daughter. We are both self-proclaimed foodies and love to experiment with new recipes together. We also enjoy taking trips to be near the ocean and visiting with our very large extended family (although we have had to take a break from that with the state in a pandemic and all). We also love our two dogs: a great dane named Khaleesi and a labradoodle named Mowgli!
I look forward to getting know each of you as we collaborate throughout this learning process. While you may face challenges along the way, keep in mind that if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you! For it is the process of overcoming challenges that enables growth. I'll be there to cheer you on and provide support along the way. Cheers to our intellectual, emotional, and developmental growth!
