My name is Lisa Carlstrom, and I am a full-time, tenured professor in the Psychology Department. I normally teach Psychology 121 (Statistics) and Psychology 110 (Sexuality). During the 2020-2021 academic year, though, I will only be teaching Psychology 110.
As an undergraduate, I went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where I earned a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Developmental Psychology. I went to graduate school at UCLA, where I earned both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus in Measurement and Psychometrics (Applied Statistics).
I decided to study psychology because I am passionate about making sure that young people get honest, accurate information about sex! My research interests include teenage pregnancy prevention, implementation of comprehensive sex education programs, and parent-adolescent communication about sex.
